Boo 2! A Madea Halloween gave Tyler Perry another box office win. Get the details and check out this weekend’s Top 10 movies below!

Boo 2! is a sequel to last year’s Boo! A Madea Halloween and is the 10th film in the Madea franchise. Perry once again directed, wrote, produced and starred in the project, which centers around a haunted campground. Opening on the exact same weekend as its predecessor, the new installment came in at only slightly lower than the original comedy-horror flick and is already close to making up its $25 million budget. With an opening gross of $21.7 million, Perry secured a first-place finish in this week’s rankings.

Gerard Butler’s new movie Geostorm, which seemed poorly-timed given recent real-life natural weather disasters, ended up being a disaster itself. Though it took second place, its debut haul of $13.3 million was puny compared to the film’s $120 million budget. Meanwhile, last week’s frightful chart-topper, Happy Death Day, dropped down to the number three spot with $9.4 million for its second weekend in theaters.

Blade Runner 2049 followed in fourth place with ticket sales of $7.2 million. Like Geostorm, Only The Brave also had a disappointing debut, even though the firefighter tale is actually based on a true story. Its box office receipts totaled just $6 million, which put it in the fifth position.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Jackie Chan’s The Foreigner, which nabbed $5.5 million for sixth place. A couple of million dollars behind was this week’s seventh place finisher, It. The movie made just $3.5 million. Coming in eighth was The Snowman, though that new film also didn’t live up to expectations. The thriller, starring Michael Fassbender, had to settle for just $3.4 million.

American Made didn’t make much either comparatively speaking. The Tom Cruise film had sales of a meager $3.2 million. And just making it into the Top 10 in the last spot was Kingsman: The Golden Circle. It earned $3 million.
